Tetracycline

Tetracycline is an oral prescription medicine for patients with infections caused by bacteria. Tetracycline should not be used for the treatment of viral infections, such as cold or flu. Unless your health care provider told you otherwise, take tetracycline on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. Although your doctor may offer you to take this medicine with some milk (if your stomach gets easily upset), be aware of the fact that this can affect the absorption tetracycline in your body. To make sure you do not get pregnant during the treatment with tetracycline use another reliable non-hormonal method of contraception. If you are taking isotretinoin, tretinoin, products containing bismuth subsalicylate, cholesterol-lowering medications, antacids, penicillin antibiotics minerals (zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium, other vitamin and mineral supplements) and blood thinners you may not be able to take tetracycline as drug interaction is possible.
